Softball Hits the Road for Weekend Double Headers

LYNCHBURG, VA – The William Peace softball team, coming off two wins in the final day of the Grand Slam Triangle Classic, look to continue their run of good play as they travel to Virginia this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders. The second of two, will be the Pacers Conference opener.

The William Peace softball team (7-7 overall) open up the weekend on Saturday as they travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to face Randolph College (5-3 overall). Last year the two teams split a hard fought doubleheader in Raleigh. The Pacers are coming off of a packed weekend at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic, where they finished the series 4-2. Meanwhile, the Wildcats split a doubleheader this past weekend with Ferrum College. The first of  two games will start at 12 p.m, followed by the second, which is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, the Pacers are back on the road as they travel to Danville, Virginia. They will open up conference play with a doubleheader against the Averett University Cougars (6-6 overall) starting at 1 p.m. Last Season, the two teams split their double header with one-sided victories for each team. The Pacers look to start conference play on the right foot with senior, Lindsey Wiggins and Junior, Heather McLean, both swinging hot bats this season, batting (.333) and (,317) respectively. WPU also finds strength in sophomore, Kelsey Durham (6-2) who has been leading the pitching personell so far this season. The Pacers look to make noise right out of the gates in The USA South Conference.
