RALEIGH, NC -- The William Peace University Softball team hosted Mary Baldwin College, Friday afternoon. The P3667acer's came out on top in both games. The Pacers started slow but ended both games with a bang.

This was the Pacer's Military Appreciation Game. Before the beginning of this double header, Todd Reed, a representative from the Louisville Slugger Warriors, threw out the first pitch. In game one, Kelsey Durham got the start for the Pacers and threw a complete game allowing one earned run, on six hits, with 5 strikeouts and zero walks. The Pacers made sure to give their pitcher some run support starting in the bottom of the third, when Heather McLean scored all the way from first on a throwing error from the catcher. The Pacers would go one and two in the third on Madison Tucker RBI single, and a Kacy Haithcock run on a wild pitch. The Fighting Squirrels would push back in the fifth to make things interesting but the Pacers would pull away in the bottom of the inning with an RBI a piece from Katelyn McLamb and Cheyenne Colburn. The Pacers headed into the bottom of the sixth up 7-1 then a long  Jordan Criswell double off the center field wall, brought in two and ended the game. Final score was 9-1.

In game two Mary Baldwin got on top early with a Sam Bird two run home run. The Pacers would answer right back in the bottom of the inning and tie the game at two with an RBI double from Lindsey Wiggins,  and a RBI single from Heather McLean. In the second, the Pacers would add on to their lead with five runs in the bottom of the second. Two of those runs courtesy of Lindsey Wiggins bomb to dead centerfield. The fighting squirrels would cut the Pacers lead with a run in the third and another Sam Bird two run home run in the fifth making the game a two run game. Kacy Haithcock and Kelsey Durham would answer right back for the pacers with an RBI a piece in the bottom of the inning. The Pacers would take a 9-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth. The Pacers Loaded the bases  then added a run off a Taylor Byrd walk. Jordan Mangum would tack on another run with an RBI single, then Lindsey Wiggins went yard again this time with a grand slam to end the game in style. Final score 15-5   Liliana Berber got the start and the win for the Pacers. Liliana went the distance for the Pacers giving up five runs on six hits, while striking out six, with no walks.
