Pacers Go 2-0 In Final Day Of Grand Slam Triangle Classic

CARY, N.C. -- The William Peace softball team concluded the Grand Slam Triangle Classic with wins over Washington College and Salisbury University on Sunday. The Pacers finished the tournament with a 4-2 record and are 7-7 for the entire year.

GAME ONE (Washington)
The Pacers were benefactors of errors in their early morning game against Washington. All five of William Peace's runs were unearned. Washington got on the board first with two runs in the first inning. They tacked on another in the second. The Pacers responded with Lindsey Wiggins singling to left field, but the fielder bobbled the ball which allowed two runners to score and Wiggins to advance to second. Kacy Haithcock tripled down the left field line to bring Wiggins in for three runs in the third. Washington took the lead back in the sixth with a single run, but the Pacers responded again with a Kelsey Durham single to score one, and a wild pitch scored Caylan Harrison from third. The Pacers would close out the seventh inning and take the victory, 5-4.

GAME TWO (Salisbury)
The Pacers got on the board first with a Heather McLean solo shot in the top of the third. Salisbury responded with back-to-back doubles that scored two runs in the bottom of the third. The Pacers were benefactors of errors once again. With the bases loaded, Jordan Mangum grounded one to the shortstop who fumbled the ball and allowed the Pacers to score to tie the game in the fourth. Later in the fifth, the Pacers had runners on first and second and Caylan Harrison singled up the middle to bring in Shay Poteat for the game-winning run.

UP NEXT
William Peace will travel to Randolph College for a double-header on March 4th.
