ROANOKE, Va. -- The William Peace University baseball team lost a pair of 8-7 games to Roanoke College on Saturday. The Pacers fall to 5-8 on the year.
In the Pacers' first game of the double-header, the Pacers scored five in the first inning to get off to a great start. The Pacers scored five runs on four hits and were aided by three errors by the Maroons. The Pacers scored one run in the second and another in the fifth, but the Maroons scored one in the fourth. In the bottom of the seventh the Pacers gave up four runs, but still led Roanoke, 7-5. That lead stayed until the bottom of the ninth where the Maroons scored three runs, all of which were unearned. The Maroons won on a walk-off single.
It was deja vu for the Pacers in the second game. The team scored runs early to go up, but Roanoke crept back and took the lead at 7-5 in the fifth inning. The Pacers tied the lead at 7-7 in the seventh inning and the score remained that way until the bottom of the ninth. The Pacers incurred another error that helped the Maroons score on a walk-off single.

The Pacers will face Eastern University in a double-header on Monday in Cary, N.C. at the USA Baseball National Training Complex starting at 1 p.m.
