Pacers Fall To Falcons, 7-3

CARY, N.C. -- The William Peace University baseball team was tripped up, 7-3, by St. Augustine's University Wednesday afternoon. The Pacers drop to 4-5 on the season.

The Pacers gave up a string of six consecutive runs in the first inning, but Chase Roupp came up big with seven innings of relief pitching that only allowed one run. A sixth inning surge sparked by Alec Allred's single up the middle, followed by Easton Payton's RBI down the left field line gave the Pacers two runs.

The Pacers let up one run in the eighth inning to go down by five, but the ninth inning provided some drama for the fans at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. Brian Willis cracked a hard double down the right field line followed by two walks. A wild pitch from St. Augustine's pitcher allowed the Pacers to score. Later in the inning the Pacers had the tying run at the plate but the Falcons closed with a strikeout.

The Pacers face Roanoke College in a double-header on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. In Salem, Va.
