RALEIGH, N.C -- The WPU women's basketball team faced the Falcons of Pfieffer University on Monday evening. Before the start of the game William Peace University dedicated the Hermann Gymnasium basketball court in honor of athletic alumni, Fay Jackson Anderson '54.

The game tipped off with a bang as the Falcons scored first but the Pacers senior, DeJah Cheatham knocked down a three pointer. Cheatham went an impressive three for four from behind the arc in the first half. The Pacers continued to battle hard keeping the score fairly even until the end of the 2nd period heading into the half down 19. The pacers defense held the falcons to an evenly matched third quarter, with both teams scoring 19 a piece. A hot shooting Falcon team jumped out to a fiery start in the fourth, making three out of four 3-pointers and tallying 30 points in the final quarter alone. Consistency and control would be the downfall of the Pacers as they caused 37 turnovers throughout the game. The match ended with the Falcons victorious with a final score of 91 to 55.

There was a strong defensive effort from Mikayla Ray who not only lead the team in rebouns (18) but in blocks as well (7).Mikayla also lead the team with 5 steals, 6 assists and notched 11 points. Jayde Grant was not far behind, with 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, 4 steals, and 11 points. Whitney Walker came out strong for the Pacers offensively to lead the way, tallying up 18 points for the night.

You can find the WPU women's basketball team back in action on November 30. They will be taking on division II opponent, Shaw University at 7:00 p.m., in the Hermann Athletic Center.
