Ferrum Holds Off William Peace, 61-54

RALEIGH -- The William Peace University women's basketball team came up a little short against Ferrum on Saturday losing, 61-54. The Pacers fall to 14-4 on the season and 6-2 in the USA South.

The back and forth game featured the top two teams in the East division of the USA South and the game did not disappoint. The Pacers jumped out to an early 17-10 lead, but the Panthers quickly brought the lead down to three at the half with the Pacers leading, 30-27.

The Pacers and Panthers traded leads throughout the entire third quarter with the Panthers having the final edge at 46-43.

The Panthers continued to put the pressure on the Pacers in the final frame, but the team always responded with a 3-pointer or a steal on defensive. The game remained close until the final few seconds. The Pacers were down four with 28.4 seconds left and had possession, but the Panthers stole the ball and closed out the game by making their free throws in the remaining 30 seconds.

The Pacers were led by Nadine Ealey who scored 17 points. Susannah Sykes had 14 and Whitney Walker added 10. Makayla Ray grabbed 15 rebounds in the loss.

Ferrum's Zarkia Mattox scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed 19 rebounds.
