Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pacers Defeat Cougars, 98-74

RALEIGH -- The William Peace University men's basketball team defeated Averett, 98-74, on Saturday afternoon. Ryan Emfinger led all scorers with 29 points, a career-high for the senior and one shy of the school record.

The Pacers took control of the game early and pushed out to a comfortable lead into the middle of the first half. The Pacers hit back-to-back-to-back threes on three consecutive possessions to give the Pacers a lot of momentum before the final media timeout of the first half.

A few too many fouls gave Averett an opportunity to close the gap in the last four minutes of the first half, going on a 12-2 run to close the half only trailing by four at 39-35.

The Pacers found their rhythm in the second half and started knocking down threes from all around the arc. In a span of 11 minutes and 25 second -- 16:39-5:14 in the second half -- the Pacers outscored the Cougars 44-16 with Emfinger scoring 17 alone. The Pacers cruised from that point on to take home another win in the Hermann Athletic Center.
