FERRUM, Va. -- The William Peace University women's basketball team's seven-game win streak ended on Saturday when the Pacers fell to the Panthers of Ferrum, 85-47. The Pacers were plauged by poor second and third quarters.
The Pacers and the Panthers were tied at 15 heading into the second quarter, but the Panthers defense only allowed William Peace to score six points in the second frame to give Ferrum a 34-21 edge heading into half.
The Pacers couldn't stop the Panthers in the third quarter allowing 29 points and only scoring 10. Ferrum cruised through the fourth quarter to give the Pacers their first loss in almost two months.
THE BIG PICTURE
The Pacers finished with season lows in points (47) and field-goal percentage. The conference loss puts William Peace third in the East in the USA South behind Ferrum and Averett.
