Men's Soccer Races Past Rosemont, 5-1

ROSEMONT, PA – The William Peace University men's soccer team traveled to Rosemont College on Saturday, where the Pacers raced past the Ravens, 5-1.

The Pacers (2-1-1) went ahead thanks to an own goal in the 7th minute after a Rosemont defender deflected in a WPU cross sent into the box. Ja'Rod Randolph made it 2-0 in the 26th, scoring his third goal of the season with the help of Chris Deleon.

Deleon wasted little time pushing WPU's lead to three on the other side of the break. It was Deleon's team-leading fourth goal this year, which came on a free kick he bent around the wall from 20 yards out. Rosemont (1-3-1) finally broke through for a goal in the 87th minute on yet another penalty kick allowed by the Pacers, but Enrique Ochoa scored his third goal of the season nine seconds later to squash any hopes of a miracle comeback.

The Pacers put 15 of their 16 shots on goal compared to seven of 15 shots on goal for Rosemont. The Ravens took twice as many corner kicks (6-3) but couldn't take advantage of the extra opportunities.

The WPU men's soccer team turns around Sunday on short rest, traveling to take on the University of Valley Forge at 2:00 p.m.
