ROCKY MOUNT, NC – The William Peace University baseball team was back in Rocky Mount Saturday afternoon for their second of three games against North Carolina Wesleyan, where the Battling pushed seven runs across in the bottom of the fourth on their way to a 10-2 win.
Alex Scott hit his first career home run in the top of the first. It was the second in as many days for the Pacers (7-9, 0-2 USAS).
Easton Payton and
Tyler Klinedinst both contributed a pair of hits. Klinedinst singled and scored in the sixth before leading off the eighth with his first career triple.
Wes Dumford (0-2) was pinned with the loss, giving up eight runs on 11 hits, one walk and four strikeouts in four innings of work.
Zach Geller tossed the final four and allowed two runs on five hits.
T.J. Wilkie (3-0) earned the win for NC Wesleyan (12-5. 4-1 USAS), holding the Pacers to only two runs on six hits and eight strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
Just like yesterday, all nine Battling Bishops in the starting lineup registered at least one hit. Trey Croom went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. James Lovett added three hits and two RBIs.
The Pacers will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
