HOLLY SPRINGS, NC – The William Peace University Baseball team dropped its third straight game Sunday afternoon at the North Main Athletic Complex against Castleton University, 15-5.
The Pacers took the early 2-1 heading into the third inning, but the Spartans offense woke up in the top of the frame. Back to back home runs by Nick Swim and Dan Errico put the visiting team up 6-2. It was all Spartans from there putting up a five spot in the sixth frame and a four spot in the eighth.
Despite multi hit games from
Easton Payton,
Alex Scott, and
Will Cunningham the Pacers could not keep pace with the Spartans offense. Payton lead the team in RBI with two, while finishing the contest going 2-for-4.
Castleton's starting pitcher Sam Spencer (1-1) picked up the win throwing six innings while giving up four runs and striking out nine.
Aron Crumb (0-1) was one of eight different Pacer pitchers to take the mound and he was tagged with the loss giving up six runs in three innings.
The Pacers are back on the field Tuesday, February 23 hosting Virginia State University at the USA Baseball National Training Complex starting at 2:00 pm.
Live Stats will be available for the contest.
