Women's Soccer Edged by North Carolina Wesleyan on Senior Day

CARY, NC – The William Peace University women's soccer team closed out the season at WakeMed Soccer Park on Sunday against North Carolina Wesleyan, where the Pacers fell by a final score of 2-0.

WPU celebrated their senior class of four before the match which includes Shannon Maddex, Amelia Melching, Ashley Piers and Caylin Yarbrough. The Pacers finish the season 3-16-1 overall with a 2-12 mark in the USA South.

As for the game, the  Pacers put together a solid 90 minutes but struggled to generate goal scoring opportunities. Marissa Aguilar struck first in the eighth minute on a ball crossed into the box from Ella Burkhart. Hannah Tolson put the Battling Bishops (10-5-2, 9-4-1 USAS) ahead by two in the 53rd off a Burkhart corner kick.
