Volleyball Caps 4-0 Weekend vs. West with Wins against Agnes Scott, Piedmont

DANVILLE, VA – The William Peace University volleyball team was back in Danville for two more USA South matches this afternoon, where the Pacers finished out a perfect run through the conference's West Division with wins against Agnes Scott and Piedmont.

The Pacers swept Agnes Scott (8-8, 3-5 USAS) in their opening match of the day, taking the Scotties down by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-22. 

Laura Bland led the team with nine kills, five digs, a service ace and a block assist. Tempestt Frazier finished with eight kills, six block assists and a block solo, while Mya Parks added eight kills as well. Liana Solomon notched 22 assists, eight digs, four kills, two service aces and a block assist. Carson Williams posted a team high 14 digs along with three service aces.

WPU (16-5, 7-2 USAS) cruised to a 25-15 opening set win against Piedmont, but the Lions (10-9, 3-5 USAS) pulled even in the second, 25-19. The Pacers bounced back to take the third, 25-20, before closing things out with a tightly contested 26-24 win in the fourth.

Frazier paced the attack with 14 kills and six more block assists, while Bland recorded 13 kills, seven digs and an assist. Parks did a bit of everything with nine kills, eight digs, six block assists and a service ace. Solomon finished with a double-double of 40 assists, 12 digs, three kills and a service ace. Williams led the way once against defensively with 22 digs and a pair of assists. Breanna Cary contributed nine digs and a career high six service aces.

The WPU volleyball team takes the court next this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., traveling to North Carolina Wesleyan.
