DANVILLE, VA – The William Peace University volleyball team traveled to Averett University this weekend for their annual Cougar Classic, where the Pacers (2-1) dropped their first of the match of the day to Roanoke, 3-2, before sweeping Hollins in the afternoon.
WPU lost a back-and-forth, five-set match against Roanoke to start their day, ultimately falling 21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 10-15.
Three Pacers racked up double-digit kills, including 13 from
Tempestt Frazier and
Lindsay Alford, along with 10 more from
Laura Bland.
Liana Solomon did a little bit of every for WPU, registering 26 assists, seven kills, 11 digs, and a block assist. Defensively, Frazier teamed up for five block assists, while
Carson Williams led the backline of defense with 27 digs.
The Pacers had a much easier second match of the day, sweeping Hollins 25-16, 25-16, 25-22.
Solomon nearly recorded a triple-double with 13 assists, 13 digs, and nine kills.
Connor Davis tallied 10 kills, with eight more coming from Bland.
WPU returns to action for two more on Sunday, as they face Randolph College followed by Guilford.
