CARY, NC – The William Peace women's  soccer team returned to WakeMed Soccer Park on Sunday, where the Pacers took on the Wildcats of Randolph College and fell just short, 1-0.
WPU (1-2) had their opportunities throughout the match. The Pacers equaled Randolph's shot total of eight and took three more corner kicks than the Wildcats (5-2), but for the second straight game, they weren't able to breakthrough for a goal.
"A game like that is the difference between an eight-win season and a four-game season," said head coach
Keith Jenkins.  "I thought we played well defensively…we're starting to gel back there, and I think we've put some players in the right place, but we're just not getting that final punch into the offensive third, which is something we'll work on as we get ready for Warren Wilson next week."
Randolph (1-1) was flagged for being offsides six times, but one perfectly timed through ball from Devon Nowicki to Sam Hablas in the 26
th minute proved to be enough for the Wildcats.  Goalkeeper Shannon Madddex was forced to make a play on the ball, but Hablas beat her to it, as she took one touch and hurdled  Maddex on her way to a wide open net.
After playing three matches in five days, the Pacers will have a week off before traveling to face Warren Wilson next Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
