GREENSBORO, NC – Coming off a 6-1 win over Johnson & Wales to open the season, the William Peace women's soccer team returned to action Friday night, traveling to take on Guilford College. The Pacers (1-1) fell, 3-0, allowing all three goals in the first half.
"We just didn't play like we're capable of in the first half," said head coach
Keith Jenkins. "We came out and played much better in the second half, but we had already dug ourselves a hole we couldn't climb out of."
Juliana Evans-Anform struck first for the Quakers (1-1), capitalizing on a Cassie Vaughn corner kick just less than 10 minutes into the match. A WPU turnover in the 19
th minute led to the Quakers second goal, as Annaliese Rutishause stole it away and found Kelli Uresti for the goal. After being awarded a free kick right outside their 18-yard box, Morgan Wolfe headed the cross taken by Uresti into the back of the net for the Quakers final goal in the 34
th minute.
The Pacers will be back at WakeMed Soccer Park this Sunday at 5:00 p.m., hosting the Wildcats of Randolph College.
