ASHLAND, VA – The William Peace University men's soccer team traveled to Randolph-Macon Wednesday night for their final tune up before jumping into conference play this weekend. The Pacers only trailed 1-0 at the break but couldn't keep up in the second half, as the Yellow Jackets pulled away for a 5-0 win.
R-MC (3-2) struck 15 minutes in, as Matt Rannie scored on a header off the foot of Logan McHugh. The Pacers held tight the rest of the half, but the momentum completely shifted in the favor of the Yellow Jackets early in the second. After being awarded a penalty kick in the 48
th minute, McHugh put R-MC ahead by two and the Pacers (0-6) never recovered.
The WPU men's soccer team hits the road once again this weekend for their first two USA South matches of the season. The Pacers square off against LaGrange on Saturday before turning around the next day to play Huntingdon. Both matches kick-off at 2:30 p.m.
