CARY, NC – The game was scoreless through three innings, but Maryville exploded for 16 runs on 16 hits, sweeping the Pacers with a 16-1, series finale win on Sunday.
WPU (1-12, 1-11 USAS) only managed three hits on the day. Trey Hathaway reached on a bunt single in the bottom of the sixth and scored the Pacers' lone run thanks to an RBI single from Tyler Klinedinst. Klinedinst went 2-for-4 on the day to finish the series 6-for-12 (.500) and extend his hitting streak to four games.
Christian Neal (1-2) got the start and the loss, allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits, three walks and six strikeouts in five innings of work.
Lawson Wishard (2-2) earned the win for Maryville (11-5, 10-5 USAS), while every Scot in the starting lineup registered a hit. Logan Jenkins led the way at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and three runs scored.
The Pacers return to action this Tuesday, traveling to Covenant College for a doubleheader starting at noon.
