FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The WPU women's basketball team fell to Methodist University on Wednesday, 65-34.
WPU (6-14, 3-11 USAS) turned it over a season high 27 times, while only shooting 13-of-59 (22%) from the field and 1-of-19 (5.3%) from beyond the arc. Methodist (7-13, 7-7 USAS) coughed it up 30 times, but they out-rebounded the Pacers, 50-28, and finished the game shooting 50% (27-of-54) from the field.
Ka'la Jordan put the Pacers up by two (13-11) midway through the first half, but Methodist took a 16 point (35-19) lead into the break after a 22-2 run and went on for the easy win.
Brittany Boykin led WPU with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists. Derrica Jones scored 10 points to go along with a pair of rebounds.
For Methodist, Sydney Bryan scored a game high 19 points, while Jasmine Canady and Ayanna Pegues added 11 points apiece
The WPU women's basketball team returns to action for a pair of games this weekend against Mary Baldwin on Saturday and Ferrum on Sunday.
