CARY, NC – The William Peace University women's soccer team returned to WakeMed Soccer Park Friday night, hosting Division II Chowan University. Despite a multitude of opportunities, the Pacers couldn't break through and played the Hawks to a scoreless draw in double overtime.
WPU (5-6-2) took 25 shots compared to Chowan's four, and they had 11 more corner kicks than the Hawks, but the Pacers weren't able to put one away. It did look like the Pacers would take a 1-0 lead into the half, but they were hit with a debatable off sides call, which disallowed
Caylin Yarbrough's goal. Chowan (1-9-1) played the entire match a man down but somehow found a way to gut out a positive result.
The WPU women's soccer team will be back in action this Sunday at 1:00 p.m., making the short trip to play Meredith College.
