FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The William Peace University volleyball team was back in action Wednesday night, traveling to take on the Monarchs of Methodist University, where the Pacers fell in three sets.
WPU (17-10, 9-5 USAS) beat the Monarchs earlier this season in Raleigh, but they weren't able to get any kind of momentum going the second time around, as Methodist (16-8. 9-6 USAS) went on to win, 25-21, 28-26 and 25-21.
Laura Bland led the Pacers with 14 kills at a .429 clip, two digs and two block assists.
Tempestt Frazier finished with eight kills and a pair of block assists, while
Lindsay Alford had five kills, three digs and three block assists.
Liana Solomon registered a double-double of 20 assists and 11 digs to go along with six kills.
Kennedey Paine recorded 14 assists, two digs and a pair of service aces.
Carson Williams posted a team high 13 digs.
Maddie Irvin also notched double-digit digs with 10.
"We were flat from the get go tonight," said head coach
Kevin Daniels. "We're into the final week of the regular season, so there really isn't any more time to figure it out. We just have to play with a greater sense of urgency."
The WPU volleyball team hits the road to Tennessee this weekend for a pair of matches against South Division opponents Covenant College and Maryville College. The Pacers host Meredith next Tuesday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m., before closing out the regular season in Rocky Mount, where they'll take on Ferrum College and Averett University.
