Volleyball Tops Fighting Squirrels in Four

RALEIGH, NC – The William Peace University volleyball team was back at the Hermann Athletic Center Tuesday night, where the Pacers topped the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin in four sets.

WPU (16-7, 9-4 USAS) came out with a 25-14 win in the opening set before taking the second set, 25-17. Mary Baldwin (2-23, 0-13 USAS) extended the match with a 25-23 victory in the third, but the Pacers closed them out in the fourth, 25-17.

Connor Davis led the Pacers' attack with 12 kills at a .320 clip, to go along with seven digs and a service ace. Lindsay Alford finished with six kills, three digs, a pair of service aces, two block assists and a block solo. Tempestt Frazier and Nicole Phillips also chipped in with five kills and two block assists apiece.  

Kennedey Paine recorded a team high 14 assists along with five digs and three service aces, while Liana Solomon led WPU with 10 digs, eight assists and two kills. Maddie Irvin collected six digs and a career high seven service aces.

The WPU volleyball team hits the road on Thursday, traveling to face former USA South opponent Christopher Newport University, the top ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic region and the fourth ranked team in all of Division III.
