RALEIGH, NC – The William Peace volleyball team traveled to take on Meredith College tonight where they fell in three sets: 25-19, 25-16, 25-13
Despite their second loss of the season at the hands of the Avenging Angels, the Pacers (12-20, 9-8 USAS) are still third in the North Division with only two more conference matches to go. Their spot in the next weekend's conference tournament should be secure, but final tournament seeding remain in flux as the season winds down. Meredith (22-7, 14-3 USAS) currently sits atop the North Division standings.
The Pacers led, 14-12, in the first set, but Meredith went on a 5-0 run to regain the lead and used another 5-0 run to close out the set, 25-19. WPU floundered down the stretch as the Avenging Angels took the second and third sets, 25-16 and 25-13.
WPU struggled defensively as Meredith racked up 41 kills hitting .338 as a team, their third best mark of the season. The Pacers were also dominated in terms of the service line. They didn't tally a single service ace but did commit 12 service errors.
Megan Mansfield led the Pacers with 10 kills hitting .364, while Tempestt Frazier added 6 kills at a .545 clip. Baylee Maughon had a team high 24 assists and Carson William had a team best 9 digs.
The William Peace volleyball team has two final regular season matches this weekend. They will travel to take on the Lions of Piedmont College in addition to NC Wesleyan.
