Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

WPU Cut Down, 4-0, by Division II Chowan

CARY, NC – The William Peace men's soccer team had a rough go of it this afternoon in their final home match of the season, as the Pacers were shutout, 4-0, by Division II opponent Chowan University.

WPU (3-10) struggled to find any offense with only five shots compared to 17 for Chowan (9-5). It didn't help that the Pacers played a man down from the 53rd minute on after Andrew Suarez picked up two yellow cards in less than two minutes.

Despite the ejection, Peace would have had to put together an impressive comeback facing a three goal deficit after the opening half. Ben Chapman fired a shot through traffic in the 21st minute to start the scoring. In the 29th, Francisco Ferrus found Chapman in the box with a long through ball from the opposite end of the field. Chapman passed up a shot and instead dropped it off to Barkan Koeprueluegil for the easy goal.  Koeprueluegil helped the Hawks make it 3-0 in the 44th assisting a goal scored by Terell Williamson.

The Hawks added one more in the 55th minute as Francisco Ferrus played Juan Lopez into the box who then found Williamson wide open in front of the net for his second goal of the game.

The William Peace men's soccer team winds down the season starting with another non-conference match at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday against Columbia International. They'll have two more conference matches to close out the year against Covenant and Averett.
