Men's Soccer Drops Non-Conference Match at Columbia International, 3-1

Columbia, SC – The William Peace men's soccer team took on their final non-conference opponent Tuesday night falling on the road to the Rams of Columbia International, 3-1.

Luis Reyes-Gomez scored his first career goal as a Pacer netting a penalty kick in the 75th minute, but Peace needed much more than that already trailing by three.

WPU (3-11) took 12 shots with seven of them being on goal, but Connor Johnston was under constant attack all night. The Rams fired off 27 shots during the match putting 17 of them on target.  Johnston made a career high 14 saves.

Columbia International (8-3-2) struck first 30 minutes into the game and led 1-0 at the break thanks to an unassisted goal from Ave Vazquez.  It only took the Rams 12 seconds to score once the second half started as Vazquez crossed into to the box and found Daniel  Mallard far post for the score.  Tyler Smith made it a 3-0 game converting on penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

The Pacers men's soccer team only has two regular season games remaining.  They travel to take on Covenant College this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. before closing things out at Averett University on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m.
