CARY, NC –The William Peace University men's soccer team was at home this afternoon against N.C Wesleyan. The Pacers couldn't climb out of the 2-0 hole in the first half, and were eventually defeated by a final score of 5-1.
The Bishops got their first goal in the 27th minute after a shot on goal that was saved by WPU goalie Conner Johnson, but fell in right in the lap of Charles Chapin for the easy score. Samba Cande then scored a goal in the 37th min assisted by Jordan Grantz.
In the second half, the Bishops started things off in the 65th as Elias Kerem found Daniel Kamden for the score. Samba Cande scored his second goal of the game in the 70th minute that was unassisted to make it 4-0. The Pacers finally answered with an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute by Andrew Suarez, who took advantage of a loose ball in front of the net. However, it was far too little too late, and the Bishops Caetano Viegas added one for good measure with an unassisted goal in the 87th minute.
WPU (3-9, 1-7 USAS) has four games remaining to try and finish their season on a high note. Their next game is at home against Chowan tomorrow afternoon with kick-off set for 3:30 pm.
