Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

William Peace Volleyball Swept by Scots of Covenant, Maryville

RALEIGH, NC – The William Peace volleyball team hosted the Scots of Covenant College and Maryville College this afternoon where the Pacers dropped both matches in three sets to the top two teams in the South Division.

Despite the two losses, WPU didn't lose any ground in the North Division standings. The Pacers are 10-18 overall with a 7-6 record in the USA South, good for the no. four seed in next month's conference tournament. They are a game ahead of Greensboro in fifth and three games up on NC Wesleyan, who is 6th and on the outside looking in.

After dropping their first and second sets of the day, 25-17, to Covenant (20-7, 9-2 USAS), the Pacers took them to the wire in the third before falling short, 26-24. Unfortunately, none of the momentum they found in that final set carried into their second match against Maryville (18-8, 11-0 USAS). They took the Pacers down, 25-13, 25-10, and 25-19.

The Pacers actually committed less attack errors than both their opponents, but they swung it poorly overall and didn't find much success with tips and rolling balls over the block. Peace only hit .033 against Covenant and .009 against Maryville, WPU's second worst mark of the year. They hit in the negatives against Christopher Newport. The Captains are the no. 13 team in the country though.

WPU Volleyball will be back at the Hermann Athletic Center for their final home match of the season.  They will honor seniors Megan Mansfield and Meghan Luffman before trying to even the season series against Methodist at 7:00 p.m.
