Gavin Wheeler returns to William Peace University as a volunteer assistant coach, working primarily with the outfielders and hitters.

A Fayetteville, N.C., native and Jack Britt High School alum, Wheeler played for the Pacers from 2018–2021, finishing his freshman campaign with a .370 batting average, the second-highest mark on the team. He continued his career at Methodist University from 2021–2023 while earning his MBA, where he started all 82 games across two seasons, earned USA South Player of the Week honors, and was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team in 2022. Wheeler wrapped up his six-year collegiate career with a .332 batting average.

Wheeler began his coaching career in 2024 with The Performance Academy, serving as head coach of the 13U Scout Team, and also spent that summer with the Oak City Gliders (now the Raleigh Red Oaks) of the Old North State League.

Excited to return to his alma mater, Wheeler looks forward to sharing his knowledge and passion for the game with the Pacers.
