Brad Shannon is in his third season as head men’s and women’s swimming coach at William Peace. 

This past season in 2024-25, the men's team secured a second-place finish at the Independent South Swimming Championships, while the women's team earned a third-place finish, and earned ISSC Men's Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year.

Nine total (four male, five women) swimmers earned spots on the CSC Academic All-District Team, and Nine earned ISSC All-Conference Honors.

Standout swimmer Kaitlyn Kucera broke the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke & 200 IM throughout the course of the season.

During the 2023-24 season, the Pacers captured three women’s events and three men’s events under Shannon in the Independent South Conference Swimming Championships. The swimming program set nine school records (Men-5, Women-4) at the championship meet.

The Pacers fared well academically in the 2023-24 season. Four swimmers received Academic All-District Honors from the College Sports Communicators organization. The women’s swim team was named a Spring Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for posting a 3.35 grade point average in the spring 2024 semester.

In addition to the WPU head coaching position, Shannon is a counselor at the N.C. State and University of Florida swim camps. He was a swim counselor at the Fitter and Faster swim clinics and an assistant coach at the University of Rochester from 2019 to 2023. 

Before his coaching career started, Shannon was a swimming student-athlete at Ohio State from 2015 to 2019. He earned Ohio State and Big Ten Scholar-Athlete honors for four straight years and competed in the USA Swimming Olympic Trial Qualifier in 2016.

Shannon graduated from Ohio State in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in international studies, security and intelligence specialization. He earned a master’s degree in applied exercise science from Concordia University of Chicago in 2022.

Shannon excels in another sport in addition to swimming. In the summer of 2024, Shannon played on a national championship team in the sport of hurling.
