Christian Ortiz Head Shot 2018

Christian Ortiz

Coach Ortiz enters his fourth year with the Pacer’s staff.

Ortiz brings a plethora of experience as a player. Ortiz spent two years at NCAA DII powerhouse Limestone College where he won the conference carolinas and then went on to compete in the NCAA tournament in both 2014 and 2015 where they managed to make it into the third round of the national tournament.

In 2016 Christian made his debut for WPU where he proved of making an immediate impact for the pacers. In his first season Christian managed to finish as the number 1 keeper in the conference with the highest save percentage (.801) and also managed to tally over 100 saves. Christian came into his final season at WPU with a new role. Christian was a captain of the Pacers and remained as one of the best goalkeepers in the conference.

Outside of college soccer Christian played for semi-pro side WV Chaos where they managed to finish third in one of the most competitive PDL conferences (Great Lakes Conference) and managed to qualify for the US Open cup. Christian also had the opportunity to play for pro side Charlotte Independence over the summer where he spent much time training with the keepers, but also along side with the coaches to get a new perspective.

Although Christian is a newcomer to the WPU sideline, he is not a stranger to coaching.

Christian has spent time coaching with a club back in his hometown of Concord NC coaching at the academy level at CSC (Cabarrus Soccer Club) where he primarily focused dealing with goalkeepers and older kids Christian also shared time training the goalkeepers at UPSL side Broncos FC NC.
