Matthew Boteler enters his first season as an Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach at William Peace University prior to the 2026-27 season.
Boteler returns to William Peace after competing for the Pacers during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. A faceoff specialist, he appeared in 15 games with 12 starts over his two seasons, collecting 79 ground balls and winning 140 faceoffs. As a senior in 2021, Boteler won 109 faceoffs at a .551 percentage while recording 65 ground balls.
Following his graduation from Peace, Boteler began his coaching career with the youth club he previously played for, working with the program’s U14 players. He later moved to North Dakota, where he helped co-found the Williston Lacrosse Club and organized clinics for players of all ages focused on skill development, fundamentals and growing the sport in the area.
Boteler also gained international coaching experience through the Zimbabwe Lacrosse Federation, traveling to Zimbabwe to introduce and teach lacrosse in communities and villages while helping expand access to the sport.
Upon returning to the United States, Boteler joined the coaching staff at Swansboro High School as a faceoff and wing coach, focusing on player development, fundamentals and position-specific instruction.
