Charlie Long

Coach Charlie Long enters his fourth season as the Head Baseball Coach after joining the Pacers in the summer of 2021.

Long was previously the Head Baseball Coach at NC Wesleyan College from 1998-2018. He also served as the Assistant Baseball Coach at NC Wesleyan from 1991-1998. During his time at NC Wesleyan, Long led the Battling Bishops to a NCAA DIII National Title in 1999 and a combined 17 USA South Championships (regular season and tournament). Long tallied 475 career wins and received 4 USA South Coach of the Year awards. He also led the Battling Bishops to another NCAA South Regional Title in 2006 and was inducted into the NC Wesleyan Hall of Fame in 2016. He is also a member of the University of Mount Olive Hall of Fame.

Long received the Clyde King Excellence in Coaching Award, presented by the late New York Yankees player and manager’s daughter, Princie King Evans, in 2020.

He graduated from the University of Mount Olive in 1989 with a B.A. in History. He received his Teacher's Certification from Campbell University in 1990, and earned a Masters in Educational Administration in 1997 at Campbell University.
