The William Peace University Hall of Fame was established in 2001 primarily to recognize and preserve the memory of the superior athletic careers of former student-athletes. The Hall of Fame recognizes those individuals who made exceptional contributions to WPU in the field of athletics by virtue of their performances on athletic teams or by meritorious efforts in years after leaving the university. Hall of Fame Nominee List
A master list will be created of eligible student-athletes, coaches, and teams which include All-Conference selections, All-Americans, Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, championship teams, etc. Individuals and teams placed on the master list will be given an individual page with statistical and other relevant information. This list will be updated each year as new individuals and teams become eligible, and those who are inducted will be removed from the list. Emphasis will be placed on older alums as we restart the Hall of Fame process.
Nomination Process
Nominations may be made by any member of the William Peace University community including alumnae, former and present coaches, administrators, and student-athletes.
Nomination applications will be included at least annually in campus publications.
All nominations shall be referred to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. This committee shall be charged with the responsibility of reviewing all available records to confirm the nominee’s submitted qualifications, as well as add information that may be relevant in determining the nominee’s contributions to the heritage and tradition of the William Peace University Pacers intercollegiate athletic program.
No more than four individuals will be inducted each year.
No more than one William Peace University personnel nominee will be inducted each year.
No more than one team will be inducted each year.
All nominees will be submitted for final approval by the college president, provost, or other appointed member of the college's administration.
Voting Process
Each committee member will be given all relevant information about each nominee. Voting will take place each year prior to December 15th to ensure adequate time to plan for a ceremony in the spring. Voting will occur online with committee members choosing up to three individuals/teams/coaches/staff to be inducted. A nominee must receive 50% of the vote in order to be inducted (4 votes if all 8 members vote). A committee member does not have to cast a vote if that person does not believe any of the nominees would be good candidates for the Hall of Fame.
