VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – William Peace women's volleyball closed out the Marlin Invitational with a split on Saturday, defeating St. Joseph's (ME) 3-0 before falling 0-3 to Rowan University.
Peace opened the day with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-22) win over St. Joseph's. After edging out the Monks in the opening set, the Pacers carried the momentum through the next two to complete the sweep. Peace finished with 46 kills and hit .278 as a team, including .457 in the first set.
Jordyn Chinigo led the offense with 11 kills while hitting .391, with Aubrey Chesson adding nine kills and Aaliyah Anderson finishing with eight. Madison Fisher put down seven kills without an error, while Katie Arens led the defense with 16 digs.
The Pacers were unable to carry the momentum into their final match of the weekend, falling 0-3 (10-25, 17-25, 13-25) to Rowan. Anderson led Peace with eight kills, while Arens recorded a team-high 12 digs. Peace added three blocks in the match.
Women's volleyball returns home next weekend for the Raleigh Invitational, where they will face LaGrange and Johnson & Wales (N.C.) on Friday evening, and Sewanee and Guilford on Saturday afternoon.
