PINEVILLE, N.C. - The William Peace women's soccer team fell 0-3 to Johnson & Wales (Charlotte) on Friday afternoon in its first road match of the season.
Johnson & Wales scored twice early, with Jess Garman opening the scoring in the 12th minute before Azalianna Absalom added another just over a minute later to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.
Peace settled in following the early goals and kept the Wildcats off the board for the remainder of the first half. Kerlyn Navarrete Trejos recorded the Pacers' first opportunity in the 22nd minute, while Peace also earned a corner kick later in the half.
Courtney Dugan made three saves after halftime, turning away chances in the 54th, 55th and 65th minutes. Johnson & Wales added its final goal in the 79th minute on a strike from Hannah Greene.
Jaylyn Altizer added a late chance for the Pacers in the 82nd minute.
Peace now returns home to WakeMed Soccer Park for four straight home matches, beginning Sunday against Washington Adventist at 3 p.m. The Pacers will also host Mid-Atlantic Christian on Monday, Regent on Wednesday and Randolph on Saturday to close out the home stretch.
