CARY, N.C. - The William Peace women's soccer team earned its first win of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating Washington Adventist 6-0 at WakeMed Soccer Park to move to 1-1-1 on the year.
After a scoreless opening half, the Pacers broke through in the 50th minute when Addison Tulowitzki found the back of the net off an assist from Dixie Barnes. Peace quickly extended the lead with goals from Josie Tucker and Kerlyn Navarrete Trejos in the 56th minute, with Emily Arblaster assisting on Navarrete Trejos' goal.
The Pacers continued to pull away as Caraline Spell scored in the 68th minute off Barnes' second assist of the match. Gretchen Weeks and Savanna Berckmiller then found the back of the net less than a minute apart in the 73rd minute to give Peace a 6-0 advantage.
Six different Pacers scored in the victory as Peace controlled the attack throughout the match. The Pacers finished with 30 shots, including 16 on goal, while holding Washington Adventist without a shot. Peace also held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Tulowitzki led the Pacers with six shots, including four on goal, while Navarrete Trejos recorded four shots. Berckmiller, Tucker and Elena Ramirez each added three attempts.
Courtney Dugan and the Pacer defense secured their second shutout through three matches, keeping Washington Adventist without a shot over the full 90 minutes.
The Pacers face a quick turnaround as they return to WakeMed Soccer Park tomorrow, Sept. 7, to host Mid-Atlantic Christian University at 2 p.m.
