CARY, N.C. - The William Peace women's soccer team fell 5-0 to Southern Virginia University Saturday afternoon at WakeMed Soccer Park, moving to 4-4-2 overall and 0-2 in USA South play.
Southern Virginia opened the scoring just over two minutes into the match on a goal from Hallie Willardson. Freshman goalkeeper Gabby Torri made seven saves over the remainder of the first half to keep the Pacers within one heading into the break.
The Knights added three goals over the opening 11 minutes of the second half, including a penalty kick in the 56th minute, to extend their lead to 4-0. Southern Virginia added its final goal in the 87th minute.
Torri played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with 12 saves, her third double-digit save performance of the season.
The Pacers now begin a three-game road stretch, starting Saturday, Oct. 3, at North Carolina Wesleyan University at 2 p.m. Peace will also travel to Brevard College on Oct. 10 and Meredith College on Oct. 13 before returning home.
