LAGRANGE, Ga. - The William Peace University men's soccer team closed out its road swing with a 4-3 win over LaGrange College Saturday afternoon at Panther Field.
Gabriel Faria Jr. opened the scoring in the 13th minute off an assist from Ehmular Hser. LaGrange answered three minutes later before the Pacers regained the lead in the 26th minute, with Hser finding the back of the net off an assist from Roberto Rayo.
Rayo added a goal of his own in the 37th minute, assisted by Carlos Depaz, to send Peace into halftime with a 3-1 lead.
LaGrange pulled back into the match early in the second half. Kenny Pameni converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute before Jacob Sagstuen scored less than two minutes later to tie the match at 3-3.
The Pacers responded in the 76th minute. Joey Hurley set up Chris Rodriguez, who found the back of the net to put Peace back in front 4-3. The Pacers held LaGrange without a shot over the final 14 minutes to secure the win.
Faria Jr., Hser, Rayo and Rodriguez each scored for Peace, while Hser and Rayo both finished with a goal and an assist. Dallas Story played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves.
William Peace improves to 2-2-1 on the season and returns home Tuesday, Sept. 15, for its home opener against Roanoke at WakeMed Soccer Park Field 4.
