Softball Sweeps JWU Charlotte on the Road

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - William Peace softball picked up a doubleheader sweep on the road Friday, defeating Johnson and Wales Charlotte in both games to improve to 10-6 on the season.

The Pacers opened the day with a 6-4 victory behind a strong offensive performance and a solid outing in the circle from Reagan Stewart.

Peace struck early with a solo home run from Isabelle Olson in the first inning and added another in the third on Olson's second home run of the game to take a 2-0 lead. Stewart helped extend the lead in the fifth with an RBI single before Allison Burlew added a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.

The Pacers continued to build momentum in the sixth inning. Sabrina Cox drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Kinley Jordan later stole home to push the lead to 6-1.

Johnson and Wales mounted a late push in the seventh, scoring three runs, but Stewart returned to the circle to secure the final outs and take the win.

Lear led the offense with three hits while Olson finished with two home runs and two RBI. Stewart added two hits and an RBI while also earning the win in the circle, striking out six over 6.2 innings.

In the second game, the Pacers used a strong seventh inning to pull away for a 10-3 victory and earn the sweep.

After trailing early and later tied at 3-3, Peace erupted for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning. The rally was sparked by key hits from Reagan Stewart, Alli Bordwine, and Allison Burlew, along with aggressive baserunning and taking advantage of defensive mistakes.

Bordwine led the offense with four hits, including two doubles, while Stewart added two hits and two RBI. Kinley Jordan and Burlew each recorded multiple hits as the Pacers totaled 11 in the game.

Kimberly Bordeaux earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs on just two hits while striking out four.

William Peace returns home on Sunday, March 22 for a doubleheader against Sweet Briar. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the ballpark.
