RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace fell 4-0 to Bridgewater College in its home opener on Saturday morning at Lions Park in a tournament-style format, with the match decided once a team reached four points.
Bridgewater claimed the doubles point, taking courts one and three. Angel Araiza and Michael Zang secured a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles for the Pacers, but the Eagles' wins at No. 1 and by default at No. 3 gave the visitors the early advantage.
In singles play, Bridgewater added straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 5 to clinch the team result under the first-to-four scoring format. Several other matches were left unfinished once the decision was secured.
Peace will return to action on Wednesday, March 4 with a road matchup at Hampton-Sydney.
