CARY, N.C. - William Peace dropped a tough conference match up Wednesday night, falling to Methodist 12-10 at WakeMed Park. The Pacers move to 7-3 overall and 0-2 in USA South play.
The teams traded momentum throughout the night in a back-and-forth contest that featured multiple ties and lead changes. Peace battled to a 5-5 tie heading into the fourth quarter before taking a 9-7 lead midway through the final quarter.
Methodist responded with a late run, scoring five of the next six goals to regain control in the closing minutes.
Brandon Goad led the Pacers with three goals and one assist, while Connor Barnes added two goals. William English played a key role in the offense with a goal and five assists, and Caleb Garey, Tyveon Brock, Derrick Buchanan, and Tyler Rutherford each added a goal. In goal, Carson McGee recorded 14 saves.
"Three quarters of good lacrosse is not good enough, we've got to learn to control our emotions for all 60 minutes." Head Coach Troy Humphrey mentioned after the game.
William Peace will look to bounce back quickly with a short turnaround, returning to WakeMed Park tomorrow for a non conference match up against FDU Florham at 2 PM.
