RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace men's basketball picked up its first USA South win of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Methodist 75-73 in overtime inside the Hermann Athletic Center. The victory moves the Pacers to 7-11 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
The game was tightly contested from start to finish, featuring 15 ties and 14 lead changes. Methodist held a five-point edge at halftime, but Peace responded with a strong second half effort to force overtime. The Pacers outscored the Monarchs 10-8 in the extra period, closing the game at the free throw line and coming up with key defensive stops.
Elijah Cathcart and Chuks Ezeonu led the Pacers with 16 points apiece. Ezeonu was perfect from the field, finishing 6-for-6 while adding 10 rebounds. Shawn Jones finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals, while Parker Hodgson added 11 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Whitehurst knocked down three three-pointers and finished with nine points.
The Pacers will look to build momentum as conference play continues.
