SWANNANOA, N.C. – William Peace University women's soccer earned their first victory of the season with a 2–1 road win over Warren Wilson College on Monday evening at Hank Steinbrecher Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Pacers struck quickly in the second. Sophomore forward Josie Tucker found the back of the net in the 46th minute to earn the lead. She scored again just six minutes later, netting her second goal of the contest in the 53rd minute to give the Pacers a 2–0 lead.
Warren Wilson cut the deficit in the 84th minute on a goal from Ori Galloway, but the Pacers' defense held strong down the stretch to secure the win.
Tucker led the Pacers with two goals on two shots, while Savanna Berckmiller and Jaylyn Altizer each tallied multiple shots on goal. Goalkeeper Gaby Vazquez held down the defense with five saves across 90 minutes of action.
With the result, the Pacers improve to 1–2 overall. They will return to action on Monday, September 15th as they host Emory in a non-conference match up.
