CARY, NC – William Peace women's soccer faced nationally ranked Emory on Monday afternoon at WakeMed Soccer Park, ultimately falling 9-0. While the Pacers struggled to generate offense against the undefeated Eagles, senior goalkeeper Gaby Vazquez was the bright spot of the afternoon.
Vazquez was called into action early and often, facing a relentless Emory attack that tallied 44 total shots, including 27 on frame. The senior stood tall between the posts, finishing with a career-high 18 saves to keep Peace within striking distance as long as possible.
Although the Pacers were unable to break through on the offensive end, Vazquez's performance was a clear highlight and a testament to her leadership and resilience in goal.
William Peace will look to regroup and bounce back in their next match up as conference play draws closer.
