RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace University volleyball closed out the Raleigh Invitational with two hard-fought battles, falling in five sets to both Oglethorpe University and Averett University on Saturday at the Hermann Athletic Center.
In the morning match against Oglethorpe, the Pacers showed resilience from the start, taking the opening set 25–22 and later forcing a decisive fifth set before ultimately dropping a 3–2 decision (22–25, 25–12, 10–25, 25–23, 15–10). Caitlin Bailey and Aaliyah Anderson combined for 24 kills, while setter Maegan Brylski paced the offense with 34 assists and added 19 digs.
The afternoon match up with Averett mirrored the morning effort, as the Pacers again pushed the contest to the end before falling 3–2 (20–25, 25–20, 25–14, 19–25, 15–12). Brylski continued to shine with 50 assists and 11 kills, while Savannah Hairr and Aubrey Chesson chipped in nine kills apiece. Libero Gracie Payne anchored the defense with 21 digs.
The Pacers (3–6 overall) will return to action next week as they open USA South Conference play against Greensboro on Wednesday at 7 PM.
