MISENHEIMER, NC – The William Peace University softball team lost the first game of a double elimination USA South Conference Tournament bracket Thursday morning with a tough 1-0 loss to nationally ranked No. 20 Pfeiffer University.
Kimberly Bordeaux delivered a strong performance in the circle for the Pacers, allowing just six hits and one earned run over six complete innings without issuing a walk. Despite her efforts, the Falcons scratched across the game's only run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Alyssa Broaddus.
William Peace was held to just one hit by Pfeiffer ace Emma Bullin, who tossed a complete-game shutout with three strikeouts. Cierra Lear broke up the no-hitter with a double in the fourth, but the Pacers were unable to capitalize with a runner in scoring position.
The Pacers look ahead to tomorrow, May 2nd where they take on Mary Baldwin in a 12:00 PM win-or-go-home match up.
