FAYETTEVILLE, NC - William Peace University men's lacrosse saw its season come to a close on Saturday with a 20-7 loss to Methodist University in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament.
The Pacers (6-8 overall, 3-5 USA South) got off to a fast start with early goals from Jamar Bell and Quinn Acree to secure a 2-0 lead, but the Monarchs quickly responded and took control of the game. Methodist used an 8-1 run to close the first quarter and continued to extend their lead throughout the game.
Bell paced WPU with three goals, while Chase Petty, Quinn Acree, Caleb Trahan, and Brandon Goad each added one goal apiece. William English recorded two assists, while Petty and Acree each contributed an assist as well.
Tom Newhall made 12 saves in goal for the Pacers as Methodist out shot William Peace 56-33. Despite converting two extra-man opportunities and successfully clearing 20-of-26 attempts, WPU couldn't overcome Methodist's offensive attack.
The loss marks the end of a strong season for the Pacers, who earned a postseason berth for the first time since 2023.Â
