CARY, N.C. – The William Peace University men's lacrosse team faced a tough challenge against an undefeated Southwestern (Tex.) squad, falling 25-5 at WakeMed Park on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the final scoreline, the Pacers (1-1) continued to show moments of resilience, with Chase Petty leading the way on offense, recording two goals. William English, Quinn Acree, and Brandon Goad each added a goal for WPU, but it wasn't enough to slow down a relentless attack from the Pirates (3-0).
Southwestern set the tone early, jumping out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter. The Pirates continued their offensive pursuit, putting up 10 goals in the second quarter to extend their lead to 17-2 at halftime.
The Pacers found the net twice in the fourth quarter, with English capitalizing on an extra-man opportunity and Petty tallying his second of the afternoon.
The Pacers will look to bounce back in their next contest on March 10th vs. Husson, as they continue non-conference play.
