Men's Basketball Falls on the Road at Eastern Mennonite

HARRISONBURG, V.a. - William Peace men's basketball dropped a road contest on Tuesday afternoon, falling 68-54 to Eastern Mennonite University at Yoder Arena. The loss moves the Pacers to 6-3 overall while conference play has yet to begin.

The game was tightly contested early, featuring multiple lead changes in the opening half. Eastern Mennonite was able to gain separation late in the first half, taking a 35-28 advantage into the break. Peace struggled to find consistency offensively, shooting 36 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

Eastern Mennonite continued to build on its momentum in the second half, extending the lead behind efficient shooting. The Pacers were unable to cut the deficit down the stretch, despite a more aggressive effort offensively.

Elijah Cathcart led Peace with 11 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Chuks Ezeonu added 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting performance. Shawn Jones and Tyler Whitehurst each chipped in nine points, and Jones also contributed seven rebounds and three blocks on the defensive end.

Eastern Mennonite was led by Isaiah Carr, who finished with a game-high 22 points, while Jazen Walker added 13 points for the Royals.

William Peace will regroup and continue non-conference play on the last day of the year, hosting Piedmont University for a New Year's Eve 1 p.m. match up.
